“When I was 5 years old I asked my mother to teach me how to play guitar. I worked hard and she got me my first gig opening for Loretta Lynn when I was 7. By the age of 11, I was also learning to play drums on a kit she bought me. A short time later, I began playing in a band called the “Country Rhythm Playboys”. I continued to play the circuit in local bands before I landed my record deal at 33. Through my successes, my mother got to see me achieve all the dreams we shared as I was growing up. I’m so proud of that! This album is made up of songs I remember her singing as a kid. I even included a song she wrote in the early 60’s entitled “I’ll make it on my own”.  Even though it was written from a woman’s point of view, I wanted to record it as a tribute to her. Mama went to heaven in 1997 and this album is dedicated to her memory...."
